| Overview Horace Silver was one of the pioneers of Hard Bop. Also nicknamed the “Father of Soul Jazz” he never improvised in double-time. Influenced by Bop pianists Thelonious Monk and Bud Powell he joined up with drummer Art Blakey to form the Jazz Messengers and developed an educational opportunity for the fresh jazz artists trying to make a name for themselves. |
