| Overview Charles Mingus was a hard driving man suited for the Hard Bop style. His improvisational skills label him a virtuoso, while his numerous arrangements label him a composer. His music showed the influence of all elements of jazz including Gospel, Blues, Swing, Bop, Latin to name a few. The varied experiences of his life are displayed in his instrumental rendition of Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting complete with congregational shouting.
