Overview
Albert King's started out as a Gospel musician but after hearing the blues played by Blind Lemon Jefferson, his course was set. His techniques have been imitated by everyone from Otis Rush to Robert Cray. This was extraordinary due to the fact that King played his guitar upside-down and backwards. His guitar was flipped over to the left, but unlike Hendrix, he did not flip over the nut and the strings, leaving the high E string on top. Joining the Stax label in 1966 gave him a new "Soul" influenced sound that brought on instant success with songs like Down Don't Bother Me and Born Under a Bad Sign.
