	Overview The "King of Ragtime" was not the only "Ragger" but it seems like he is the only one anyone has hear of. The reason for his success was that he was an educated Creole that could write down his compositions where his less educated fellow raggers could not. One of his most popular songs, The Maple Leaf Rag, was a huge success because it put this new style of music called "Jazz" within reach of the classically trained musician.
